Nutrition and Supplementation
Whole food nutrition and supplementation is an underestimated, underappreciated, and under practiced form of treatment for health conditions across the board, including pain, inflammation, and musculoskeletal disease. Inflammation in the human body is rampant, and our current typical western diet is only increasing inflammatory substances in our body. Treatment to the body as a whole, through gastrointestinal health promotion and rebalancing life around healthy forms of eating, can be the difference between success and failure in all conditions. Based around my intolerance for gluten, which produces high amounts of inflammation in my gastrointestinal and musculoskeletal systems, I personally follow a modified mix of paleo and anti-inflammatory diets. This produces a diet that has zero carbohydrates from wheat and high amounts of energy producing food from vegetable based products and animal proteins, resulting in no gut pain, increased amounts of energy throughout the day, decrease in hunger swings, better sleep at night, better mood, and healthier skin, among numerous other positive benefits. Supplementation prescribed for musculoskeletal conditions will also help with anti-inflammatory properties, pain relief, and tissue healing. Sleep disorders can be both a cause and an effect for many health conditions. Using natural supplements and herb formulas to improve sleep can improve health and recovery when in a healing stage. |
